The third file is used for time setting which is explained below.
You can also remove the memory card and using an SD card reader connect to the PC to access the saved files.
Reset: If the camera ever starts to lock up or will not operate. There is a reset button that can be pressed with a paperclip to reset the unit and it will start to work normally again. The hole for the reset button is located right next to the USB port on the camera.
Time to change the setting on its own: The camera will create a TXT document in the main directory of the memory card when first powered on. The file will be named TIMEREST.txt, and this can be opened with the notepad program on a computer. You need to edit this file to adjust for the correct time and date. You want to edit the below format to be your local date and time.
Once the date and time have been updated you will save the file back to the camera’s memory. You then want to safely remove the camera from the PC and do a recording. This can be any video or image recording and during this first recording the time/date from the text file will be used to set the time for the camera’s recordings.
The watermark for the date and time can be added or removed from the recordings by changing the letter at the end of this time file to be Y for yes to show the date and time or N for not showing the date and time. The default is Yes, and you can leave this alone to keep the time on the recordings.
The format is Year, Month, Date, Hour, Minute, Seconds, and Watermark.
20190601235959 Y
Refer to the following format:
20190601235959 Y (time watermark display)
20190601235959 N (no time watermark display)
Reminder: If your video recordings are large you may need to connect the SD card to the computer using a card reader. This can make the data transfer from the camera’s memory faster and more reliable. This is only needed when transferring large amounts of data or many video clips at once.
When connecting the camera to the PC if you have trouble accessing the camera’s memory. You will want to remove the camera from the PC and reset it. Once the reset is done you can connect the camera to the PC again to access the memory.
